A simple easy, Daily Yoga practice generates an unparalleled feeling of well being..
A state we can all appreciate considering the world now..
There’s no ideal time to start.. so just set the stage and dive in.. Hydrate before and after practice and keep the body Warm.. This is Important, muscles and connective tissues become much more pliable when heated.. Yoga evolved in the Tropics of India.. so Warm is a key prerequisite coupled with hydration and an empty bowl..
Standing or lying pose, Focus on the breath.. Relax and become centered where the body is and Breath.. for a few minutes grounding… Gently… breath into each pose.. Maintain an awareness that pain has nothing to do with the Asana practice.. play your edge wherever it is.. but Back Off going too deep.. ease into each posture.. no forcing.. let Gravity do the work, remember your body is your friend and not a mule to be beaten into submission.. No competition, changes will occur with consistent practice.
Start with a beginner video, Iyengar is better for older bodies. Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow is more suited for younger bodies..
If you come to Yoga injured it’s important to explore Restorative Yoga with an instructor schooled in this healing tradition.. Desikachar’s teaching is the best I have seen for us Westerners.. if injured..
Group Yoga is a Western phenomenon and it can benefit you.. without question.. yet a personal custom tailored practice will take you to an entirely different level…so if that’s practical I urge you to find a local teacher that resonates with you..
No matter what state your in.. a Daily Practice can improve your body, your life.. It can help you achieve your goals.. whatever they may be, improved Meditation or run a Marathon or just walk around the block free of pain..
Dive in the Water is fine..
Peace
